• Record motor nameplate voltage, frequency, phase, and full-load current
• Confirm the installed starter or drive matches the intended motor application
• Confirm overload device type and setting basis
• Confirm the overload setting is not a guess copied from a different motor
• Confirm the motor connection arrangement matches the nameplate or wiring diagram
• Confirm enclosure/environment suitability has been reviewed
